Random thoughts and opinions from a true
renaissance man
…Random thoughts and
opinions from a true renaissance man… I’m
extremely happy, so I’m here to spread real
positive vibes…indeed I ain’t mad at nobody
…So, don’t eff wit me…insert laughter here…OK,
so I have a warped sense of humor...
I've accepted that about me…but I’m not getting
why there is a general lack of societal
responsibility.  It’s frustrating how there is a
complete lack of accountability in our culture.
Paula Abdul
Dr Karin Stanford the mother of Jesse Jackson’s bastard child writes
a book posing as a “victim” and likening herself to Anita Hill, Robin
Givens and Desiree Washington…other African American females
publicly vilified for their roles in bringing down high-profile African
American men…& oh yes, Paula Abdul certainly seems to be
exercising her right not to take responsibility for her behavior with an
“American Idol” contestant.  Kwame Brown, the first kid to be drafted
first overall into the NBA directly from high school has demonstrated
his unwillingness to take responsibility at all for the fact that after four
years in the league he still can’t average double figures in points or
rebounds, can’t get to practice when he’s mad about playing time and
gets suspended during the Playoffs, the Playoffs! At this point allow
me to let you catch your breath…I’m being so facetious about
something that is really very, very serious. WRONG IS WRONG
…there are no varying degrees of wrongness. This moral dilemma
extends to the actions at the Abu Gharib prison in Iraq where enlisted
personnel are the only ones facing jail time or House of Rep member,
Tom DeLay’s problems with illegal payments from a lobbyist which he
knew nuthin about (yeah, right) The Prez of the United States (some
of you still don’t accept Bush as the prez, but he does have the title)
said he could think of no mistakes he has made …politically savvy,
but come on.
Even Billy Paul knew he was doing wrong with
Mrs Jones…a great song tinged with some regret
and acceptance of the sinful behavior.  One of
the main reasons I like Van Hunt is his poignant
lyrics…by the way, Van Hunt was the most
underrated performer of 2004…he should be
hailed as the next Marvin Gaye…the title formerly
held by another poster child for lack of
accountability, D’Angelo…
Van Hunt
…do you know where he is now...as to the whereabouts of D’Angelo,
let’s hope he gets his life straightened out just as it appears that
another troubled artist, Dave Chappelle, is making an attempt to help
himself by reportedly checking into a South African medical facility for
mental health treatment.  Anyway, one of the side effects of today’s hip
hop infused music industry is the lack of great songs sung by great
crooners…music has become such a producer’s medium…John
Legend and Bobby Valentino give us hope.  Yes, it’s ultimately about
us…the general public must demand respect…demand truth…demand
accountability.  If your diet is drivel, then foolishness becomes an
elegant cuisine.  The protectors of our morals decry the state of the
entertainment industry, yet the public seemingly can’t fill their collective
appetites with enough Desperate Housewives and The Massacre from
50 Cent…so who’s zooming who (thanks ReRe)…I’m not hatin…nor
condemning popular culture…it is my intention, well, maybe it’s my
request to you…stop fooling yourself…it’s OK to make choices based
on subjective personal reasons…that’s my prerogative (thanks,
Bobby…it’s good to give B Brown a shout out - smile)…just don’t be in
denial…don’t be disingenuous and deceitful with yourself…& once you
are willing to take responsibility for your own choices you will be much
more discerning about others’ actions…it’s a very powerful and
empowering thing to say I was wrong, I have corrected it and I have
learned from it…thank you for your time this time until next time.
