"Pillow Talk: Miki Sings...": Miki Howard
By Craig chapman
It’s been 5 years since her last new album. ”
Pillow Talk: Miki Sings The Classics” is the title
of the recently released CD from soulful
songbird Miki Howard, her first on Shanachie
Entertainment.

Many of us remember Miki from songs like
“Love Under New Management”, “Baby Be
Mine”, and “Ain’t Nuthin’ In The World”, hit tracks during the 80’s /
early 90’s musical era. As the title suggests, Miki new CD is a
collection of old school classics. It’s an interesting collection of tunes
that showcases Miki’s vocal range and artistry.

Ms. Howard music always seemed to take on a jazzy dimension, and
many of the tracks on this project continue in that tradition. “Go Away
Little Boy” made popular by Marlena Shaw, George Benson’s “This
Masquerade”, and Natalie Cole’s “Inseparable” transport us to a
smoky after hours lounge where the jazz singer puts the finishing
touch on a romantic night on the town.

We head down yonder for Miki’s faithful version of Dorothy Moore’s
soul standard “Misty Blue”, than to Pop-land USA for a pretty
rendition of the Captain & Tennille’s chart topper “Do It To Me One
More Time”. Miki starts and ends “The Classics” with “I Can’t Stand
The Rain” (Ann Pebbles), and “Which Way Is Up” (Stargard), two real
good & funky songs that were an unexpected treat.

“Pillow Talk: Miki Songs The Classics” by Miki Howard; conjuring up
soulful memories of yesteryear!
