|"Introducing.. Gordon Chambers"
by Craig Chapman
His name is Gordon Chambers, and
although his name doesn’t immediately ring
a bell, I’m quite sure that most of us have
listened to his music. Songwriter extra-
ordinaire, Gordon has penned "I Apologize"
for Anita Baker, "If You Love Me" for
Brownstone, Angie Stone’s "No More Rain
(In This Cloud)", Beyonce’s "After All Is Said
And Done", and Patti Labelle and Ron Isley
"Gotta Go Solo", which recently burned up
the radio airwaves across the country.
“Introducing… Gordon Chambers” is the debut CD from this very
gifted artist, as he confidentially steps out of the background to
personally present his songs to the masses. The result is an excellent
R&B album that sets a very high standard for those that follow in
2005. Not only is Gordon an exceptional songwriter, his vocal skills
are outstanding. One has to wonder what took him so long to step
up to the “mic”.
The album is a journey through the many moods of Rhythm & Blues.
“Touch You There” embraces the sound of Marvin Gaye and Motown,
“Slipping Away” has a smoothed out UK pop feel, courtesy of the
sampled rhythm track of Spandau Ballet’s “True”, while “Never Fall In
Love” has a neo-soul oriented sound. Gordon gets your head
nodding and foot tapping on the infectious up-tempo groove of “Get
Happy” and the melodic “Still In Love”, featuring Sara Devine, perfect
for the upcoming summer season.
Mr. Chambers will touch your heart on the emotional ballads, “I’ll Miss
You Most”, and “That’s When I Fall”. As a bonus, Gordon performs his
vision of the songs “I Apologize” and “My Valentine”, previously
recorded by Anita Baker and Carl Thomas respectfully.
Emerging from behind the pen, “Introducing… Gordon Chambers”! If
you enjoy good music that will stand the test of time, I urge you to
pick up the new CD from Mr. Gordon Chambers and support
