"If Only....": Howard Hewett
By Craig Chapman
Okay, this is the album we’ve been waiting
for…. “If Only”, the new CD from Howard
Hewett. He’s been making music for longer
than he or us would care to admit to. It all
started with Shalamar back in the day, and
the musical career of this Soul superstar rolls
on......
As we’ve come to expect, Howard blesses us a cool collection of love
songs sung to the key of smooth. The album kicks of with the mid-
tempo rhythms of “I’ll Be Right Here”, and we’re immediately
hooked.   “I Wanna Know” is the other nice toe-tapper on the CD.

Drawing from the classic “This Is For The Lover In You”, the remaining
10 tunes from Howard are romantic ballads that’ll have you singing,
swaying, and… (you can use your imagination).  “If Only “, “To Please
You”, “Can You Feel Me”, and “Is This True Love”, are destined to
become soul classics. Howard takes us back to a few years to revisit
one of his torch songs, “How Do I Know I Love You”. An sentimental
rendition that will send chills up and down your spine….. whew!

To close the album, Howard performs the inspirational “Our Father”,
along with his remake of “Imagine” featuring the late Billy Preston
and Gerald Albright.

“If Only”… the new album, from R&B crooner Howard Hewett. A must
for every Soul Music lover!
